90 day pump visits through telecare have already been approved by Medicare.

Medicare has temporarily expanded its coverage to telehealth service.

Clinicians will need to document why telehealth visit (phone or virtual visit) rather than a face to face visit was performed (COVID-19 crisis). Clinicians will need still to use the medicare verbiage to document the patient is using device. And to put in the documentation that a need of ongoing medical supplies for continuity of care are needed.

    Hi Elena,

Does billing for this require a remote download or will just a phone/telemed a visit with the patient work?

We are doing remote device downloads from this week.  Last week we included the following in the EMR:

Telephone visit for Diabetes Device supplies

Within  medical records (Patient's office notes), document the following to ensure continuity of care for all patients:

      • :
        • The reason/situation for canceling non-urgent face to face appointments
        • Document a brief evaluation of the diabetes condition:
          • Insulin usage
          • Testing Frequency or CGM patterns
          • Pump usage, etc
        • Indicate the chronic condition that leads to the need of ongoing medical supplies for continuity of care.

Are there particular criteria that need to be documented in the telehealth visit?
    Thanks in advance.
