I am a board-certified Endocrinologist with an active practice and clinical research program focused on diabetes. My training in Epidemiology at the BU School of Public Health and the Clinical Research Training Program at Boston Medical Center provided me a solid foundation on which to build my research career. Currently, my research focuses on improving the management of diabetes and hypoglycemia in hospitals and predicting and preventing hospital readmissions among patients with diabetes, which is funded by the NIH/NIDDK. We developed a novel tool that predicts the risk of hospital readmission for a patient with diabetes, the Diabetes Early Readmission Risk Index (DERRI), which is freely available online: https://redcap.templehealth.org/redcap/surveys/?s=3XCPCAMKWE
As Director of Clinical Research for the Section of Endocrinology, I oversee clinical research activity in the Section and mentor junior faculty. Also, I serve as an Associate Editor for BMJ Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice.
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our two young boys, playing tennis, and attending live music.
